SKU: JA_153568127 Categories: ,

This is a Napoleonic War era Royal Navy Officer’s 1805 pattern sword. This was the first regulation sword issued by the Royal Navy. It was a descendent of the 1803 Infantry Officer Saber but the blade was altered from curved to straight. The 1805 pattern sword was used by Lord Horatio Nelson and he would have been armed with one of these at the famous, Battle of Trafalgar. This type of sword would have been used up until 1827 when it was finally replaced by a newer model.

*Condition*

The blue and gilt of the blade is still visible in areas but it mostly has a dark patina with slight pitting. Minimal oxidisation on the langets. Small dents in grip. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
