~ Franklin Mint Maritime Trust Large Porcelain Character Jug – Sir Francis Drake ~

A porcelain character jug depicting Sir Francis Drake by the Franklin Mint in association with the Maritime Trust, designed by Gerald Emberton.

The jug is in the form of Sir Francis Drake with his famous ship 'Golden Hind' for the handle.

The jug is stamped to the base (see images).

The jug stands at 18.5cm (7 ¼ inches) and weighs 955g.

The jug is in a superb condition with no damages.

~ Sir Francis Drake ~

Sir Francis Drake (1540 – 1596) was an English explorer, sea captain, privateer, slave trader, naval officer, and politician.

Drake is best known for his circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition, from 1577 to 1580 in the Golden Hind. This included his incursion into the Pacific Ocean, until then an area of exclusive Spanish interest, and his claim to New Albion for England, an area in what is now the American state of California
