Very Old Parry Dagger or Maine Gauche

These were used in the non sword hand during sword fights in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, this is a simple but well made example with a beautifully aged antler handle. These parry daggers became more and more sophisticated as time went on culminating in the more elaborate Maine Gauche, with large knuckle guards offering much more protection.
