~ French M1866 Chassepot Sword Bayonet And Scabbard ~

This French yataghan curved sword bayonet was fitted to the Chassepot M1866 rifle.

It has a slightly recurved blade with a single almost full length fuller, sharp point, steel cross-guard and quillon and ornate brass handle with working release button. It comes with its steel scabbard.

The cross guard is stamped "P 48582" and has 3 imperial proof marks. One side of the blade is stamped “6” and the other with 2 imperial proof marks

~ Condition ~

All in good order, the release button is fine. It draws out of the scabbard with ease.

~ Dimensions ~

The bayonet is 69 cm (27 inches) in total length.
