Here we have a lovely French piece of history, a sword of the Bourbon Kings marked patriotically with VIVE LA NATION down one of the edge.

These swords came into use in 1767 and were widespread among French other ranks of the late 18th century. These swords have a wide variety of blade types but this one seems very standard and I would assume it was simply carried in France by a French soldier.

What is most interesting about this sword is that it still has its scabbard, something scarcely seen on swords this age.

A beautiful and patriotic piece that just screams history and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 28 inches (72 cm) long.

The blade is 22 inches (56 cm) long.

The sword weighs 1.06Kg.

~ Condition ~

The sword has wear to be expected with its age, the scabbard leather is slightly brittle.
