Here we have an absolutely beautiful example of the 1796 Light Cavalry Sabre that was purchased by the previous owner in Hougoumont making this a possible Waterloo sword.

The sword is the troopers version of the 1976 light cavalry sabre with the makers mark along the spine for ‘Wooley & Co’.

The sword has a single edged curved blade with a wide fuller on each side.

The guard is the classic stirrup knuclebow.

The grip is a wood core around the tang with a leather cover.

The sword retains its damage and has not been restored, there are sections missing from the wood core of the sword and some signs of worm.

The blade shows some edge damage but is still in good condition.

The sword does not have its scabbard.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 33 inches (83 cm).

The sword is 38 inches (97 cm)

The sword weighs 810 g.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in an as found condition but quite good for its age.

The blade has an aged patina and some edge damage towards the tip.

The knucklebow has blackened.

There is some of the wooden core missing fom the grip and scraps of leather missing.

The blade rattles a bit.
