~ Trench Art Dagger, Dated 1914, Siege Of Namur ~

An unusual trench art dagger made from a shell fragment.

The fragment has been ground down to make a blade leaving the remainder of the shell scraps as the grip.

The dagger has been manufactured by using stock removal techniques creating a ricasso and a double edged dagger.

The dagger is crudely stamped  ‘Namur 1914’ and also bears a factory mark of the 'Licot, Namur' company, a blade and razor company in the Southern French speaking area of Belgium.

~ Dimensions ~

The dagger is 16 inches (40cm) long.

The blade is 8 inches (20cm) to the ricasso.

It weighs 465 g.

~ Condition ~

The dagger is in good condition for its age, with some blackening to the blade.
