~ 17th Century Shirasaya Tanto Signed Michisada ~

A lovely quality tanto with one mekugi-ana and signed Michisada.

Featuring a short red painted fuller and further incised to either side with stylised characters highlighted in red.

The blade has a shallow wavy hamon and is contained in its wooden shira-saya.

~ Condition ~

There are round inserts of bone either side of the Mekugi pin, one of these is missing.

There is a slight split on the lower edge of the brass ‘habaki’, but this is not too bad thankfully.

There is also a split along the bottom edge of the wooden saya (scabbard).

In all other aspects the item is in a very nice condition for its age.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade has a length of 36cm (14 Inches).

The piece has an overall length of 56cm (22 Inches).

It weighs 670g.
