This is a fine example of a WW1 Trench foldable Periscope.

This periscope was used by soldiers in the First World War to see above the trench whilst staying in cover.

Both cooper ends are painted black, with a mirror on the reverse. One side it bears the manufacturers mark “Sole Markers Eduerr & Sons Manchester S.W.”.

The metallic structure forms diagonal V shapes and is secured at each end by three metal screws.

The Periscope comes with its original olive case, closed and opened by an adjustable pin.

*Dimensions*

The periscope is 4 ½ inches (11.5cm) long and 4 ¼ inches (10.8cm) wide.

The periscope is 2 ¼ inches (5.5cm) wide closed and 17 ½ inches (44.5cm) wide open.

It weighs 645 grams.

*Condition*

The periscope has some light scratches on the black paint but the item presents well.

The periscope metal shows some patina but there is no nick or rust showing activities.

The periscope case is in good condition for its age.
