~19th Century Pine Page Boy Continental Companion Statue ~
The statue is in the form of a page boy holding an outstretched alms dish.
It is attached on to a matching circular base with beautiful floral patterns which are lightly ebonised giving a great contrast.
The wood is, I believe pine, but very highly waxed and buffed to give it a charming honey glow like a light oak.
The level of carving is to a high standard with a fine expressive face.
~ Dimensions ~
The carving measures 29 inches (73.6 cm) tall. The base has a diameter of 9 inches (22.8 cm) & a depth (from the edge to the dish) of 13 inches (33 cm). It weighs 2.98 Kg.
~ Condition ~
There is a small chip on the nose, a bruise on the left buttock and a crack across the lower right leg calf.
