*Soviet - USSR, Cold War Era - Dated 1985, Army Pilotka Side Cap, Size 59, Klintsy Factory*

Original Soviet military issue pilotka (side cap), constructed in khaki cotton twill and retaining its internal factory stamp confirming manufacture in 1985. This is the classic folded field and garrison cap worn by Soviet Ground Forces throughout the Cold War period, particularly common during the late Brezhnev and early Glasnost era.

The cap follows the standard wedge-shaped pilotka pattern with stitched fold-over side flaps and internal blue-grey sweatband lining. It would originally have been worn with the small metal red star cockade to the front seam, now absent, which was standard for Soviet enlisted personnel. The overall form remains very characteristic of late Soviet issue examples.

The internal ink stamp reads:
“ФАБРИКА ГОЛОВНЫХ УБОРОВ” (Headwear Factory)
“г. КЛИНЦЫ – 85” (City of Klintsy – 1985)
“59” (Size 59)
This confirms manufacture at the Klintsy headwear factory, one of the major Soviet military textile suppliers, with size 59 corresponding to a relatively large fit.

Approx. Measurements – Internal size: 59 cm.

History Note:
The pilotka was one of the most recognisable pieces of Soviet military dress, used by the Red Army and later the Soviet Armed Forces from the Second World War through to the final years of the USSR. By the 1980s it remained standard issue for barracks wear, parades, and general service, even as newer field uniforms such as the Afghanka were introduced. Lightweight, practical, and easy to fold flat, it was especially popular for summer wear and could also be worn beneath the steel helmet for improved comfort.

*Condition*
Good original vintage condition with honest service wear and age-related handling marks throughout. Some light fading, minor spots, and general wear consistent with use and storage. The front cockade is missing, as commonly encountered. Internal stamp remains visible and legible. Structurally sound and displays very well. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
