*British, WWII, RAF Pilot's Wings, Sweetheart Brooch, Silver & Enamel*

A charming and authentic WWII RAF sweetheart brooch in silver and enamel – a perfect addition for collectors of military and home-front jewellery.

A fine WWII Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch, crafted in silver and decorated with coloured enamel. The design features outstretched blue enamel wings centred on the interlaced RAF monogram, surmounted by a red and orange enamelled King’s Crown. The reverse is stamped “SILVER”, confirming its construction in solid silver, and retains its original pin fitting. Measuring 4.2cm wide by 2.5cm tall, this piece is both elegant and historically evocative.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were privately purchased and gifted to wives, mothers, fiancées and girlfriends by serving personnel as tokens of affection and pride. During the Second World War, the RAF wings design became one of the most iconic sweetheart badges, symbolising both service and sacrifice. These brooches were often worn prominently on the lapel or dress, serving as a constant reminder of a loved one in the air force.

*Condition*
The brooch remains in good condition overall. The enamel retains strong colour with only light wear to the wing tips. The reverse shows natural tarnishing and patina consistent with age, with the “SILVER” mark clearly visible. The pin and catch are intact, though the metal shows signs of age-related oxidation. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
