*British, WW2, RAF Pilot's Wings, Sweetheart Brooch, White Metal with Enamel Traces*

A charming WWII RAF sweetheart brooch with winged RAF monogram and traces of original red enamel, a poignant reminder of wartime service and family pride.

A delicate RAF sweetheart brooch in white metal, measuring 4.1cm wide by 1.1cm tall. The design features finely detailed outstretched wings surmounted by a King’s Crown, the central roundel bearing the RAF monogram in relief. Traces of original red enamel remain in the crown. Reverse with simple pin-back fastening typical of sweetheart jewellery.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were popular items of personal jewellery during both World Wars, worn by wives, fiancées, and girlfriends as a symbol of pride in their loved one’s service. Commercially produced in a wide range of materials from silver and gold to base metal and enamel, they served as poignant reminders of the RAF’s role during wartime. The use of the King’s Crown (Tudor crown) dates this example between 1918 and 1952, most likely WWII or immediate post-war era.

Condition Report:
Good overall condition with age wear. White metal showing light tarnish and patina, with some green verdigris around the crown and lettering. Partial loss to red enamel on crown, otherwise detail remains clear and well-defined. Original pin and catch intact. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
