*British, WW2, RAF Sweetheart Brooch, King’s Crown, Pave Set*

A decorative WWII RAF King’s Crown pave sweetheart brooch – a classic wartime keepsake, full of period charm.

A charming Second World War period Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch, finely modelled in white-metal with outstretched wings surmounted by a King’s Crown. The piece is decorated throughout with pave-set pastes, creating a sparkling effect that would have been highly prized as a gift during the war years. Measuring 5.9cm wide by 2cm tall, the reverse is plain and unmarked, with its original period pin fitting still intact.

Historical Note:
Sweetheart brooches were immensely popular tokens during both World Wars, presented by servicemen to wives, mothers, and sweethearts as symbols of pride and affection. The use of the King’s Crown dates this example securely to the reign of George VI (1936–1952). RAF sweetheart jewellery, whether made in silver, enamel, or paste-set white-metal, remains a highly collectable category, reflecting both wartime sentiment and patriotic fashion.

*Condition*
In fair to good condition overall for its age. The stones show age-related darkening, some discolouration and occasional losses, with traces of old verdigris evident around settings. The metal retains its plating with areas of rubbing and oxidation. The pin fitting remains sound and functional. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
