Comprising:
1939-45 Star
Africa Star
Italy Star
War Medal 1939-45
A classic example of a standard issue WWII campaign medal group awarded to Mr. H.W. Huntington, confirmed by the original named OHMS (On His Majesty's Service) medal box addressed to 20 North Parade, Burley-in-Wharfedale, Yorkshire. The group includes its original transmittal letter from the Under-Secretary of State for War, printed on one double-sided sheet with the royal coat of arms on the front and detailed information on campaign stars and medals on the reverse. The box also bears the medal issue reference number 320/1385, an official tracking number used by the Army Medal Office when dispatching this set.
The medals are unengraved, as was standard for British WWII campaign medals, and are accompanied by three of their original protective waxed paper wraps, which further highlight the untouched nature of the group.
The combination of the Africa and Italy Stars indicates service in North Africa followed by the Italian campaign, representing key phases of British Army operations in the Mediterranean theatre.
*Condition*
All medals remain in excellent original condition with crisp details and bright ribbons showing only light handling wear. The box is intact with some typical creasing and edge wear but retains clear address details and official postal stamps. The double-sided transmittal letter is clean with minor folding and handling marks. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
