*United Nations, Blue Beret of the UN Blue Helmets, with 1st Btn Parachute Regiment Maroon Patch *

Marked on the inside: 238739931 Pte Cook, M.T. Pln. HQ. Coy, 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment.
UN badge backed by a patch of maroon / burgundy - the 1st Paras Beret Colour.  Looks like it is made by Kangol Wear Ltd but the label is obscured. Cotton lining, no draw tie, 2 eye holes with 2 eye holes and eyelets and leather protector in place at 9 o'Clock.

The present day 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, also known as 1 PARA was formed in 1948 from the 4th and 6th Battalions.
1964 - a United Nations peace-keeping tour in Cyprus
1973 - a UNFICYP tour to Cyprus based in Polemidhia Camp
1976 - a UN tour in Cyprus based in St David's Camp
1999 - spearheading the entry of the NATO KFOR Peace Keeping Force into Kosovo in 1999
