The Motto, often recognized as the most distinctive emblem of any British cavalry regiment, was bestowed for the triumph over the French at Quebec in 1759. An economical all-brass version was distributed in 1916. Following the merger with the 21st Lancers in 1922, the Motto persisted as the preferred badge of the 17/21st Lancers.
