A very nice deactivated US M1 Garand Rifle manufactured by Springfield Armory. The M1 was the first true semi automatic rifle to be used as a main stream weapon by infantry of any nation. Called "the greatest battle implement ever devised" by General George S. Patton, the Garand entered service in 1936 and was officially replaced by the M14 in 1957. It was used extensively by US forces throughout WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. Some were even used during the troubles in Northern Ireland. The M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963 and was a reserve weapon until 1966. It proved to be one of the best of its type, firing the hard hitting 30.06 calibre round from a 8 round capacity magazine. They are utterly reliable, very, very accurate and very powerful.

This is a very good example. The rifle has a peep rear sight and winged fore sight. It is crisply stamped on the breech housing "U.S. Rifle, Cal. .30M1, Springfield Armory, 5363085". It is complete with sling swivels, bayonet lug and steel butt plate with trap.

*Condition*
This is a wonderful example of the Springfield M1 Garand Rifle and it is in good condition. There are minor dents to the woodwork commensurate with its age and service. Deactivated with a moving cocking handle. Trigger does not move. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
