Delightful hallmarked sterling silver capstan ink well, circular in shape with a plain body, a small well to hold the ink liner, a washable glass liner for the ink, a hinged lid and resting on a flat base. At 75mm diameter it is a perfect size for use on a desk.
Measures approx: 7.5cm wide x 4.5cm tall.
On the outer hinge engraved PAT5655/10. Hallmarked on the back outside wall of the inkwell and inside the lid. The London hallmark is only featured on the outside but the makers mark, sterling lion and 'h' date letter are present in both places. CB&S for Charles Boyton and Son Ltd, Manufacturing silversmiths, Upper Charles Street, London EC, with the trade mark registered Sep 1904 till 1928 when they changed their logo; British Sterling Silver Lion; 'h' for 1923; and written notation: 17/1 0146.
*Condition*
This is a lovely piece in very good condition - just needing a polish. It is remarkable to find one of this age with its liner, however the liner rim is broken. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
