~ 1940’s Givejoy Toys Skybirds 1:72 Scale Model Granville Gee Bee Model R Super Sportster ~

The ‘Gee Bee (Granville Brothers) Model R Super Sportster’ was a special-purpose racing aircraft made by Granville Brothers Aircraft of Springfield, Massachusetts.

The R-1 won the 1932 Thompson Trophy race, piloted by Jimmy Doolittle. He lapped all but one ship in the race, made easy turns and never had to come down and make a tight pylon turn. He also set a new F.A.I. world landplane speed record of 296 mph (476 km/h) in the Shell Speed Dash.

 ~ Dimensions ~

The model has a length of 7cm (2 ¾ inches) and a wingspan of 10cm (4 inches).

~ Condition ~

The model is of wood construction, hand-painted and is nicely detailed.

It is in very good condition commensurate with age.
