Early 19th Century American Bowie Knife with Original Scabbard. Wide clipped point blade, sharpened on one edge and curves upward to form a pointed tip. Hardwood grips decorated with 6 rivets. Original leather scabbard. 23cm blade. 36.4cm overall.
The Bowie knife was originally designed in the early 19th century by James Bowie, a famous frontiersman and folk hero of the American West. Bowie knives are designed for heavy-duty use and are known for their durability, strength and versatility.
*Condition*
The blade is in good condition with some tarnishing, no nicks to the blade. The grip is in good condition with tarnishing to the tang. The original leather scabbard shows some signs of wear and tear and some damage to the tip. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
